Relaxation problems for reacting gas mixtures in a host medium

Abstract


A kinetic model for a chemically reacting mixture diffusing in a host medium is proposed. Existence and uniqueness of collision equilibrium is proved, owing to a suitable Lyapunov functional. For Maxwell-molecules interactions with the background, macroscopic equations with exact collision contributions are derived, and numerical simulations in the space homogeneous setting are presented.
