Thermoelectric effects in silicon quantum wires

Abstract


Thermoelectric effects have been tackled in silicon quantum wires using a subband hydrodynamic model. This has been formulated by closing the moment system derived from the Schroedinger-Poisson-Boltzmann equations on the basis of the maximum entropy principle. Under the hypothesis of Local Thermal Equilibrium, the thermoelectric coefficients have been determined without any fitting procedure.
